Steam, Spas and Plaster: Ventilating Wet Rooms Beautifully
Extract that survives the steam. See the Performance Circle range.
No room in the house asks more of its ventilation than a bathroom. A ten-minute shower releases the best part of a litre of water into the air; a family bathroom does that four or five times a day, every day, for decades. The extract terminal sits directly in that stream of warm, saturated air — and most of the products sold for the job were never really designed to live there.
The evidence is on the ceiling. Metal grilles chill below the dew point and sweat, leaving drip spots and a rusty bloom at the screw heads. Plastic valves yellow under UV and moisture, gather a film of damp dust, and grow the grey speckle that is the start of mould. In the room owners tile most expensively, the air terminal is usually the first thing to look tired.
A material that shrugs at steam
Gypsum composite behaves differently in wet air. It holds close to room temperature, so steam does not condense on its face — no droplets, no drip ring, no mould bed. It carries no static, so damp dust has nothing to cling to. A Performance Circle diffuser plastered into the bathroom ceiling stays what it was on day one: a clean circular shadow line in a painted plane, pulling moist air out at the rate the system was commissioned to.
Spa logic for home bathrooms
Hotel spas learned this long ago: in rooms built for calm, services must be invisible and silent. The same grammar works over a domestic bathtub. A Line diffuser run above the glazing keeps mirrors clear by washing them with drier supply air; a flush Side Square diffuser handles walls where the duct lives in a stud void; and acoustic ducting keeps the extract inaudible from the bath. The same condensation-and-dust story plays out above the hob, so the kitchen gets the same cure.
Paint it with the room
Because every face is paintable plaster, the diffuser takes the ceiling colour — or the dramatic dark one, in bathrooms that have joined the colour-drenching movement — and takes it again at every redecoration. Class A non-combustible, 5-year warranty, and no replacement part to buy when fashion changes.
